Nerja is located on the eastern tip of the Axarquía, about 50 km from Málaga and borders the province of Granada. It is a both a fishing and agricultural village with a rich Moorish history taking its name from Arabic, “Naricha” meaning “abundant springs”. Nerja has an old world feel and offers pleasantly mild coastal weather in dreamy surroundings of golden sandy beaches and dramatic cliffs. Nerja cuisine is typically Mediterranean and includes specialities such as “tortilla de bacalao con miel de caña” (cod omelette smothered with cane honey), traditional “migas” (sautéed breadcrumbs) and, of course fresh fish from the area. The Nerja Cave, is found 750 metres from the coast on a plateau and around 200 metres above sea level facing the mountain rage of Sierra de Almijara. The cave is open to the public and covers an area of 140,000 m².
By Car: - Take Avenida del Comandante García Morato. - Turn right in Camino de la Loma de San Julian and turn right again after 300 metres to take Avenida De Velazquez/ N340 towards Malaga (Centro). - Proceed ahead on the N340 until you find the A7/E15 and take exit 292. - Once in Nerja, take the 2nd exit on the roundabout to Calle San Miguel and turn right after about 450 metres to Calle del Chaparril where you will find Hotel Jimesol. By Public Transport: Take a bus to Malaga and in the town centre (Muelle de Heredia), take another one from the Alsina Graells company to Nerja. Once there, take a taxi to the hotel.
